I don’t think this was what they had in mind at the time of the children’s crusade, that was a sad and bizarre confluence of events. This was written in a spiritual sense to get people with lots of money to support the health of the local church.

hmm. I think they took this literally when they launched the Child’s Crusades. I do not think it worked out too well for the children.

I couldn’t agree more! No second century army would dare issue marching orders without the correct weapons and equipment to get the job done.
